Zouk is immensely popular in cities such as Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Spain, Buenos Aires, Tokyo, New York, San Francisco, London and Amsterdam.

Zouk is danced in Brazil using a modified, slower, smoother, even more sensual version of the Lambada. It could be considered one of the three main “non-ballroom-dancing” dances there.

The Zouk is danced differently in Brazil than in any other part of the world, characterized as a partner dance full of body waves.

The music makes you want to move. Zouk is not only an elegant, graceful and beautiful dance, but also good exercise, stress relieving, and fun.

Zouk, Zouk-Lambada or Lambazouk is led by the glued-to-each-other hips of the partners. Thus, in a basic sideways movement, it is the hips that move first, followed by the rest of the body, and this is part of what makes the dance so sensual.
