Teacher Assistant Program - LEVEL I
The first step to becoming a JRDA instructor.
The Teacher’s Assistant Program Level I, is a 12 week training course designed to prepare each individual with the knowledge and skills necessary to instruct students in the basic skills of social dancing in their chosen style of dance.
Juan Rando is one of Australia’s most successful Tango and Salsa Teachers whose school is currently one of the oldest structured Salsa and Tango Academies in Australia. Juan’s reputation as a thoroughly technical and knowledgeable dance teacher is well known. Juan Rhas run several teacher training programs in the past, with many local instructors in Perth graduating through this process.
The Level I Training Course will prepare you in the following aspects of teaching :-
- Prepare the teacher in fundamental “concepts” of dancing, and how with the appropriate application of these concepts, many basic concepts can be solved.
- Leader and Follower Roles in all level 101 and 102 Syllabus.
- Professional Ethics
- Effective methodologies for communicating with students in 1 on 1 and 1 on many situation.
- Goal Setting for classes and private lessons.
The Level I training program consists of the following components :-
- 2 * weekly Training Session on 1.5 to 2 hours each with Juan Rando, for 12 Weeks
- 12 Private Lessons (1 per week) for personal dance development
- 1 Instructor Examination
- 1 Medal Achievement Examination
- Participation in AT LEAST 1 level 101 and 102 class throughout the program
Other entitlements awarded to participants in this program :-
- FREE access to all classes of the relevant style throughout the program.
- Access to all in house training material
Once you have completed the program and successfully passed the examination, you can expect :-
- Priority placement as a PAID Teacher’s Assistant.
- As soon a your role as PAID Assistant is confirmed you will receive Staff rate private lessons ($60)
- An Official JRDA Teacher’s Assistant Card & Shirt
Each participant must provide :-
- Complete payment PRIOR to commencement of the program
- Dance shoes
Who may apply to join this program :-
- Anyone can join this program, whether you are currently a JRDA Student or a student or teacher from another school or style.
- All levels of dancers are welcome.
- Ultimate participation as an assistant is partly assessed on personal dance ability and presentation.
- There is NO OBLIGATION to be an assistant once you have completed the program. Students may do the program simply for their own development.
