Club Salsa Classes
Club Salsa Classes
Juan Rando Dance Academy pioneered the formula for managing large Salsa Classes in a nightclub envronment back in 1999.
This style of class was very popular for a long time in Perth, and primarily focussed on the Cuban style of Salsa.
Our Nightclub Classes have now taken a new focus in 2008.
What are Club Style Salsa Classes?
These classes blend popular moves from both Cuban and New York Styles of Salsa.
Club Style Salsa Classes are casual.
Although the classes are casual, they are nonetheless highly structured. Each of the 7 or more levels focusses on a specific type of figure. Each level will continue to explore variations of a figure until the dancer becomes confident with the execution of that style of figure.
How do I know what level I’m in?
Once you have demonstrated confidence in each level and can comfortably execute the required figure of the level, your instructor will issue you certificate to advance to the next level.
Club Style Salsa Classes are great compliment to our regular and highly popular 8 week Salsa courses.
Our casual classes are a great way to get extra work on your dancing in between your regular 8 week courses. Having problems with a particular step? Just pick your club style level that teaches this figure and jump in.
What’s happening with our traditional Rueda and Cuban Style Classes?
One of the great weaknesses of teaching in a night club environment, is the inability to work on technique and in particular musicality. Cuban Style Salsa can feel wonderful particular when danced to the correct music (ie. Timba style Salsa). The problem is that through teaching in nightclubs, this appreciation has been lost, and dancing to Cuban style Salsa to Cuban music has never been realised to it’s full extent in Perth.
We are going to change that!!!!
Specialist Cuban Style Courses will be run at JRDA, focussing not only on the proper movements and attitude that makes a cuban dancer, but also will focus on musical appreciation and understanding the difference between Cuban Salsa Music, and why the movements suit this style.
